Fireplace Safety in Your Home

Miles Industries is committed to manufacturing and distributing first class gas fireplace products. We take great pride in providing efficient, reliable and safe heaters for your home. It is important to remember that your Valor Gas Fireplace is a technical appliance. We ask that you read and understand the operating instructions and precautions before use. Please note that all Valor Gas Fireplaces and Stoves become extremely hot during operation. For your peace of mind and the comfort of yourself and your loved ones we offer the following tips.

Valor Safety Tips:

• Before the initial operation of your fireplace please read and follow the instruction manual to ensure correct use and proper maintenance of the product
• Fireplace glass windows, doors and safety screens will be hot, even on low-fire settings were there are no signs of visible flames
• Educate your family about fire safety before operating the fireplace
• Never leave children or pets in the same room as the fireplace without adult supervision
• Ensure that the fireplace remote control is inaccessible to young children at all times
• If you are a parent and/or have young children frequenting your home, we highly recommend installing a screen door kit as well as a hearth guard
• All objects in the room should remain a safe distance away from the fireplace (in most cases, we recommend three feet or more)
• After the unit has been turned off, the glass on your fireplace will remain hot for a short period of time (roughly 15 – 30 minutes)
• Ensure that your fireplace is completely shut off and the unit has safely cooled before performing general maintenance (cleaning the glass, etc.)
• Never leave combustible materials or flammable liquids in the same room as your fireplace
• Scheduling routine maintenance checks with a local Valor dealer helps to ensure safe, effective use of your fireplace. This practice will also help increase the expected lifetime of your fireplace
• Contact your local Valor dealer if you have any questions and/or require further information regarding the product installed in your home
